I just watched The Eye 3, also called The Eye: Infinity, and I could tell right away it’s nothing like the first two films. The Pang brothers decided to mix horror with comedy this time, and sadly it feels confused and uneven. The story follows five friends who gather in Thailand for a holiday. One night they discover a strange book listing ten ways to see ghosts and decide to try them out, ignoring warnings about calling spirits. What starts as a joke turns serious when one friend disappears and strange things begin happening.

The idea behind the film is actually interesting. The ten methods like looking through your legs, using an Ouija board, or brushing your hair at midnight could have made for some truly eerie scenes. But instead of real scares, most moments are played for laughs. A ghost possession turns into a dance-off, and at one point ghosts are scared away by farting. It’s impossible to feel frightened when the film keeps turning serious moments into silly jokes.

The tone jumps all over the place. The opening with monks performing an exorcism starts off strong but quickly becomes ridiculous when the possessed girl’s tongue hits everyone like slapstick comedy. It feels like the Pangs couldn’t decide if they wanted horror or parody. The first two Eye films had real tension, mystery, and emotion. This one feels like half-finished ideas wrapped in cartoon jokes.

The movie does look good though. The camera work is stylish and the Thailand settings add atmosphere. Scenes shot at night, especially when the friends try to lure ghosts with food on a quiet street, are among the better moments. The actors do what they can but the story doesn’t give them much depth to work with.

By the end, the film tries to bring back a serious tone with a slightly emotional ending, but it feels too late. The mix of slapstick humor and ghostly ideas never blends well. I found The Eye 3 entertaining in short bursts but disappointing as a horror movie. It has moments of creativity and fun visuals, but the comedy ruins the fear. It’s a strange and uneven ending to what started as a smart and chilling series.
